RINDGE, N.H. (April 16, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 8-1, on Saturday by Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at SNHU.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 4-13 (1-6 Northeast-10), while SNHU improves to 10-7 (8-0 Northeast-10).

The lone point on the day for Franklin Pierce came at third doubles, courtesy of the duo of senior Drew Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) and freshman Dan Longtin (Eliot, Maine). The pair squeaked past SNHU graduate student Max Seiler and sophomore Jeremy Reichentahl, 8-6.

Only one Raven could take a set across six singles matches on Saturday afternoon. At second singles, freshman Marcus Lawrence (Acton, Mass.) swept the first set to ambush sophomore Miguel Marreiros, but the latter ultimately picked up an 0-6, 6-1, 6-1 win.

In all, four SNHU players were victorious in both singles and doubles play, led by Marreiros, who had earlier teamed with sophomore Tiago Fernandes to roll to an 8-0 win at first doubles.

The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, April 17, when they travel to Hartford for a non-conference match in West Hartford, Conn.
