PAXTON, Mass. (April 3, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 7-2, on Saturday night by Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play at Paxton Sports Center.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 4-11 (1-4 Northeast-10), while Assumption improves to 3-3 (2-1 NE-10).

Franklin Pierce picked up both of its points on the day in doubles play. At second doubles, freshman James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) and sophomore Olivier Viel (Quebec City, Quebec) posted an 8-3 win over Assumption junior Marco Leung and freshman Reb Mariano. At third doubles, senior Drew Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) and sophomore Logan Sherwood (Merrimac, Mass.) pulled out an 8-5 victory over juniors Casey Hodor and Tom Knight.

It was a clean sweep of six singles matches for Assumption, as the Greyhounds pulled away for the 7-2 victory. Only one of the six singles matches needed three sets on Saturday night. At fifth singles, Sherwood took the opening set from Hodor, 6-4, but the latter would ultimately prevail with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 win.

Two Assumption players picked up wins in both singles and doubles play on Saturday. Freshman Danny Waung and sophomore Ryan Foster teamed up for a win at first doubles, before picking up wins at first and second singles, respectively.

The Ravens return to the court on Wednesday, April 6, when they travel to Southern New Hampshire for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 3 p.m. in Manchester, N.H.
