Men’s Tennis Downed at Post, 9-0

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (March 31, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon in non-conference play on the road at Post.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 4-10, while Post improves to 5-6.

In singles play, freshman James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) put up the biggest fight for Franklin Pierce, as he was the only Raven to claim a set victory. He took the first set from Post sophomore Nikola Crvelin, 7-5, but the latter ultimately came away with a 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 victory.

In doubles play, the second doubles team of Bisazza and sophomore Olivier Viel (Quebec City, Quebec) and the third doubles team of senior Drew Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) and sophomore Logan Sherwood (Merrimac, Mass.) each put together strong efforts. Bisazza and Viel dropped an 8-5 decision to senior Peter Fanous and sophomore Ludvig Herikson at second doubles, while Bennett and Sherwood fell by the same score at third doubles against senior Jonathyn Young and junior Ryan Moffat.

In all, five Post players were victorious in both singles and doubles play on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles were led by Crvelin, who also teamed with sophomore Martin Munoz to roll to an 8-1 win at first doubles.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, April 2, when they travel to Assumption for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 6 p.m. in Paxton, Mass.
