Men’s Tennis Falls at Eckerd, 9-0, to Conclude Florida Trip

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 18, 2016) – On its final day in Florida, the Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, at Eckerd in non-conference play on Friday afternoon.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 3-9, while Eckerd improves to 9-3.

Freshman James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) put together the biggest fight for the Ravens in singles play on Friday. He forced a first-set tiebreak against Eckerd sophomore Victor Appelqvist, but ultimately dropped a 7-6 (7), 6-3 decision.

In doubles play, it was Bisazza and sophomore Olivier Viel (Quebec City, Quebec) who would come the closest to winning a point for the Ravens. The duo dropped a tight, 8-6 decision to junior James McManus and senior Frazier Springfield.

Eckerd would see all six players finish victorious in both singles and doubles play on Friday, led by Appelqvist, who picked up wins in both first singles and first doubles. In addition to his win over Bisazza at first singles, he teamed with senior Yosua Husodo to notch an 8-1 win at first doubles.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, March 26, when they travel to American International for a Northeast-10 Conference match in Springfield, Mass.
