Men’s Tennis Defeated by Colorado College, 8-1, to Open Spring Season

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 13, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated on Sunday, 8-1, by Colorado College in non-conference, neutral-site play to open the spring portion of its schedule.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-7, while Colorado College improves to 6-4.

The lone point of the day for the Ravens came at first singles, where freshman James Bisazza (West Barnstable, Mass.) collected a straight-set, 6-2, 6-0 win over Colorado College junior Jason Gutierrez. Elsewhere, freshman Andrew Schadt (Tolland, Conn.) put up a fight at third singles, but ultimately fell to sophomore Brian Chen, 6-3, 6-4.

In all, five different Tigers earned wins in both singles and doubles play on Sunday, led by freshman Daniel Holland, who notched wins in both first doubles and second singles. At first doubles, he teamed with Gutierrez for an 8-3 win over Bisazza and freshman Marcus Lawrence (Acton, Mass.). Holland and Lawrence met at second singles as well, with Holland notching the 6-4, 6-1 win.

The Ravens are back in action on Monday, March 14, for a pair of neutral-site matches in Orlando. Franklin Pierce will take on Onondaga CC and Bethel.
