Sherwood scores win at sixth singles

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 21, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team dropped a 5-1 decision on Sunday morning in Northeast-10 Conference play at Le Moyne. The match was cut short due to inclement weather after the completion of the day's six singles matches.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-3 (0-2 Northeast-10), while Le Moyne improves to 2-0 (1-0 Northeast-10).

The one point for Franklin Pierce on the day came at sixth singles, courtesy of freshman Logan Sherwood (Merrimac, Mass.). He posted a straight-set win over Le Moyne sophomore Adam Celeta, 6-4, 6-2.

Senior Chris Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) and junior Drew Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) put together solid efforts for the Ravens on Saturday at first and second singles, respectively. Each hung close in the first set, but ultimately dropped identical, 6-4, 6-2 decisions to Le Moyne sophomore James Gayvert and freshman Jason Barton.

The Ravens return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 30, when they travel to Stonehill for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 6 p.m.
