Ravens visit Le Moyne on Sept. 21

Banevicius RINDGE, N.H. (September 13, 2014) – On a dreary Saturday afternoon in New Hampshire, the Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to Adelphi in its 2014-15 Northeast-10 Conference opener.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-2 (0-1 Northeast-10), while Adelphi improves to 2-0 (2-0 Northeast-10).

Adelphi was able to breeze through doubles play on Saturday, as it dropped just four games en route to winning all three matches and a 3-0 lead, highlighted by an 8-0 sweep from senior Justin Vijungco and freshman Christopher Buckley at third doubles.

The Panthers did not drop a set across six singles matches either, though Franklin Pierce did its best to make things interesting. Playing in the pro set format at sixth singles, senior Aras Banevicius (Canton, Conn.) took three games from Buckley, but fell, 8-3. Senior Chris Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) at first singles and freshman Olivier Viel (Quebec City, Quebec) at fourth singles each won three games in their match as well, but dropped identical, 6-1, 6-2 decisions to Vijungco and junior Sander Brenner, respectively.

All six Adelphi players posted victories in both singles and doubles play on Saturday.

The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, Sept. 21, when they travel to Le Moyne for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 10 a.m.
