Ravens wrap up season at Saint Anselm on Saturday

RINDGE, N.H. (April 16, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, on Thursday, at home by Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-10 (1-8 Northeast-10), while Assumption improves to 8-8 (5-3 Northeast-10).

Junior Drew Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) put up the strongest fight for the Ravens in singles play on Thursday, as he squared off with junior Viljami Rahnasto at third singles. Rahnasto took the first set, 6-4, before Bennett answered with a 6-3 win in the second set. Rahnasto prevailed in the third set tiebreak to come away with the 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 win.

In all, each of the six Assumption players picked up wins in both singles and doubles play on Thursday afternoon in Rindge. Sophomore Chris Waung was a winner in the top matches of each. First, he teamed with Rahnasto for an 8-4 win at first doubles. Later, Waung picked up a straight-set win at first singles, 7-5, 6-3.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, April 18, when they wrap up the regular season by traveling to Saint Anselm for a Northeast-10 Conference match at noon in Manchester, N.H.
