Ravens host Assumption Thursday

WALTHAM, Mass. (April 11, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, on Saturday, on the road in Northeast-10 Conference play at Bentley.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-9 (1-7 Northeast-10), while Bentley improves to 9-6 (5-2 Northeast-10).

Senior Christopher Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) put up the strongest fight for the Ravens in singles play on Saturday, as he squared off with junior Kamil Pilch at first singles. Pilch took the first set, 7-5, before Brewer bounced back and rolled to a 6-2 win in the second set. In the third-set tiebreak, Pilch came out on top, to pick up the 7-5, 2-6, 10-6 win.

Brewer's team at first doubles was also nearly able to pull out a point for Franklin Pierce. He played alongside junior Jared Taylor (Pelham, N.H.), and the duo was narrowly clipped by Pilch and senior Alex DeMuth, 8-6.

In all, three different Bentley players won in both singles and doubles play on Saturday, led by Pilch, who won in the top-tier matches of each. Meanwhile, freshman Brendan McCarthy swept a 6-0, 6-0 match at second singles, and also teamed with fellow freshman George Samander for an 8-1 win at second doubles.

The Ravens return to the court on Thursday, April 16, when they host Assumption in a Northeast-10 Conference match starting at 2 p.m.
