WALTHAM, Mass. (September 26, 2013) – Sophomore Jared Taylor (Pelham, N.H.) picked up a win at third singles on Wednesday afternoon, but it was the only point of the day for the Franklin Pierce University men's tennis team, which dropped its Northeast-10 Conference opener at Bentley, 8-1.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce drops to 1-1 (0-1 Northeast-10), while Bentley opens its season at 1-0 (1-0 Northeast-10).

Taylor bounced back from a first-set loss to defeat Bentley sophomore Kamil Pilch, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, and secured the only win on the day for the Ravens. Meanwhile, a composed senior, Patrick Gilhuly (Killingworth, Conn.), held his form throughout his match at first singles, but was ultimately overpowered by Bentley senior Jimmy Rindo, who took the match in three sets.

In doubles play, junior Christopher Brewer (Brattleboro, Vt.) and Gilhuly were unable to find their rhythm as the Bentley pair of Pilch and Rindo took command of the match early and secured an 8-2 win.

Things were just as tough at second doubles for sophomore Drew Bennett (Rindge, N.H.) and Taylor, as the pair racked up several forced and unforced errors in their 8-2 loss to senior Andrew Waddington and freshman Chase Rosa.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they return home to host Stonehill in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 11 a.m.
