No. 2 Men's Soccer Charges Past University of New Haven, 4-0

RINDGE, N.H. (9/24/22) – Graduate midfielder Miguel Secades Rodriguez (Langreo, Spain) scored a pair of goals to highlight the No. 2 Franklin Pierce men's soccer team's 4-0 victory versus Northeast-10 opponent University of New Haven on Saturday evening at Sodexo Field.

Men's soccer collects their ninth win on the season and moves to 9-0-1 (4-0-1 NE10) overall, with the Charges still seeking their first win on the year at 0-5-3 (0-2-2 NE10) with the loss.

The Ravens found the back of the net early in the game, as it took just over 11 minutes for Secades Rodrigues to collect his first of the evening, as well as the season. The goal resulted from a feed by junior defender Bernardo Prego (Evora, Portugal), which shortly thereafter, set the tone for a similarly setup play that found sophomore forward Braudilio Rodrigues (Lisbon, Portugal) alone on the back post, extending the Raven lead to 2-0.

In the 30th minute of the first half, Secades Rodrigues added his second goal of the contest, courtesy of a pass from Braudilio Rodrigues to find the Raven midfielder nearly uncontested in front of the Charger goal, boosting the Ravens to a 3-0 lead heading into the second half.

The lone Raven goal in the second half would not come until the 74th minute of action, following a beautifully set up sequence by graduate midfielder Jonas Cervera Anchel (Chiva, Spain), who centered a ball in close to find Younes Addar (Castellon, Spain) for his fourth goal of the season. In the 4-0 winning effort, the Ravens collected a total 21 shots while limiting New Haven to just a pair.

Senior netminder Kosta Maniatis (Montreal, Quebec) logged the full 90 minutes for Franklin Pierce, facing no threats for his eighth win of the season.

Men's soccer gears up for a non-conference matchup at the turn of the month, where they will host Dominican (N.Y.) at Sodexo Field on October 1st at 7PM.
