RINDGE, N.H. (September 22, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University men's soccer junior midfielder Noam Kolakofsky (Achziv, Israel) stopped the Ravens' scoreless drought with his first goal of the season as the Crimson and Grey dropped their fourth Northeast-10 Conference contest, a 2-1 decision to Southern Connecticut State University Saturday Night on Sodexo Field. With the win, the Owls improve to 5-2, 3-1 NE10.

With the Ravens trailing 2-0 in the 70th minute Kolakofsky struck his inaugural marker of the 2018 season. The team captain was awarded a penalty kick after a yellow card was issued to Daniel Utgaard of Southern Connecticut. Kolakofsky took the attempt, ripped a shot to the lower left of the net that was initially turned away by Owl keeper Jake Davis. The ball rebounded off Davis right to the foot of Kolakofsky who rocketed home the second chance.

The Ravens had three chances in the first half to establish an early edge. Sophomore midfielder Kidino Jones (Randolph, Mass.) had a partial breakaway as he used his speed to gain a step on the last defender. He stroked a shot from the top of the PK box that went straight into Davis' mitts. 11 minutes later, Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) lofted a PK to the lower right of the cage that was saved. Second, passed until Felber had another opportunity to draw first blood for FPU. Felber headed an excellent chance from six yards out that was just wide of the right side.

Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago) kept the score even at 0-0 before the intermission buzzer sounded by punching away a shot on goal off the head of Kevin Van der pol. The Owls notched two second-half goals as Van der Pol and Devante Teixeira broke through in the 58th and 66th minute respectively.

Davis made five saves in his third win of the campaign. He stifled Felber's last chance header from the top of the six-yard box in the 87th minute. Poon-Lewis stopped two shots for FPU. Franklin Pierce held the edge in shots 13-to-8 and corner kicks 6-to-4.

FPU will look to end their losing skid on Tuesday when they host Saint Anselm at 7:00 p.m.
