RINDGE, N.H. (September 11, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team suffered another heartbreaking defeat Tuesday evening on Sodexo Field when they were shutout 1-0 by Northeast-10 Conference opponent Le Moyne College. The Dolphins remain unblemished at 4-0, 1-0 NE10 while the Ravens drop to 1-4, 0-1 NE10.

The Ravens held the advantage in the shot column (14-to-12) and in corner kicks (6-to-3), but couldn't cash home a shot. Freshman defender Bastian Thormeier (Munich, Germany) led his squad with a game-high four shots and three shots on goal.

Le Moyne could only muster two shots on goal to the Ravens five. The Dolphins made it count though in the 13th minute when junior forward Salar Faryar footed home a through ball from atop the box for his fourth goal of the campaign after a feed by teammate Robert Rohrhirsch.

14 minutes later, Thormeier streaked down the left side and around defenders into the left slot. He stopped and stroked a shot that had a clear path to the net until Dolphin netminder Josh Mahr snared the ball.

Late in the second half with eight minutes remaining, sophomore forward Yannik Felber (Vallendar, Germany) almost tied the game as his open cage shot attempt just a couple feet inside the box clanked off the crossbar and was cleared out of danger by the Dolphin defensive until. This was by far the Ravens best scoring opportunity of the game.

Franklin Pierce goalie Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago) stopped one shot in the setback. Josh Mahr improved to 3-0 on the season with five saves in the shutout victory.

FPU travels away from campus on Saturday when they take on conference opponent Assumption at 7:00 p.m.
