SNHU’s Second Half Scores Doom Ravens

MANCHESTER, N.H. (October 14, 2017) – Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer sophomore defender Louka Masset tallied the game-winning goal in the 71st minute as the Penmen upended the Franklin Pierce University Ravens 2-0 Saturday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Larkin Field.

Masset got his head on the ball off a corner from Romain Daniellou who lofted the kick into the left side of the box. Masset played the ball perfectly as his head grazed the ball and ended up in the right part of the cage to give SNHU a late 1-0 edge.

The Penmen added an insurance goal three minutes later as Alex Satrustegui kicked in a loose ball from the right side off a cross by Claude Diesse to clinch the contest for the hosts.

The match was a game of inches as Raven sophomore midfielder Noam Kolakofsky (Liman, Israel) missed a chance at capturing some early momentum as his one-on-one chance with keeper Daniel Milton just missed the right goalpost and went over the backline for a goal kick.

The Ravens were stifled again by a hair as freshman forward Oran Ben Zion (Tel Aviv, Israel) ripped a shot from the right side that looked like it was destined for the back of the net, but Milton leaped, got his fingers on the ball which kept the game scoreless until Masset notched the difference maker.

Southern New Hampshire held the advantage in shots (14-to-8) and corner kicks (5-0). Daniel Milton stopped four shots in the win as he improved to 9-2-1 on the campaign while Raven netminder Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) made five saves and fell to 6-3-2.

The Ravens schedule doesn't get any easier as they travel to no. 14-nationally ranked Merrimack College on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. kick off.
