Men’s Soccer Snaps Winless Drought with 4-1 Victory Versus Saint Michael’s

RINDGE, N.H. (October 10, 2017) – Freshman forward Oran Ben Zion (Tel Aviv, Israel) scored two goals and sophomore midfielder Noam Kolakofsky (Liman, Israel) chipped in a career-high three assists as the Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team earned a 4-1 win over Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Michael's College Tuesday evening at Sodexo Field.

The win, the first in the past five games for the Crimson and Grey, improves their mark to 6-2-2 overall and 4-2-2 NE10 while the Purple Knights stumble and fall to 3-7-1, 1-7 NE10.

Ben Zion tallied his two scores within five minutes of each other in a three-goal second stanza for the Ravens that put the match away. His first marker came off a cross to the middle, six yards out from teammate Hamish Cadigan (Christchurch, New Zealand). He then upped the Raven advantage to 4-0 as he tapped in a pass from the right goal line off the foot of Kolakofsky.

44 seconds before Ben Zion's second score, Kolakofsky found fellow midfielder Jacob Maddox (Southborough, Mass.) with a through ball from the top of the box to the middle where Maddox was waiting to put the finishing touch on his second goal of the campaign.

Kolakofsky had a hand in the opening marker of the match as well. He found an open Cadigan on the left side and the senior captain showed off his long-range stroke by tickling the twine with a 25-yard strike. Through 10 games this season, Cadigan has already matched his 3-3-9 scoring line across 18 duels last year during his junior season.

In the 83rd minute, Adrian Diaz converted a one-on-one opportunity against Raven netminder Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) to end the shutout bid. Poon-Lewis stopped two shots in the win and increased his record to 6-2-2 on the season.

Franklin Pierce begins a tough three-game stretch on Saturday as they travel to conference foe Southern New Hampshire University for a 7:00 p.m. battle.
