MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 26, 2017) – The no. 21 nationally ranked Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the year, a shocking 3-2 regulation decision to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Saint Anselm College Tuesday afternoon at Melucci Field. With the win, the Hawks glide to 2-4-1, 2-3-0 NE10 while the Ravens drop to 5-1-1, 3-1-1 NE10.

The Crimson and Grey jumped ahead 1-0 just 1:27 into the duel as sophomore midfielder Noam Kolakofsky (Liman, Israel) headed the ball past Hawk goalie Helio Meirelles Neto off a cross from the right to left from teammate Joel Peterson (Christchurch, New Zealand).

About six minutes later, the hosts responded by knotting the score at one all as Emmet O'Callaghan stole the ball away from a Raven players and buried a breakaway chance. In the 13th minute, Saint A's would take the lead for good as Spencer Persson lofted a cross to Nick Heckt who spun a shot inside the left post to make the score 2-1.

In the 34th minute, O'Callaghan netted an insurance goal, his second score of the contest as Jack Heintzelman played a through ball to O'Callaghan who chipped the ball by an aggressive Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago).

The shot total were even at the intermission as each team recorded seven shots apiece. After the break, Franklin Pierce took 18 shots to their counterparts two. One of the Ravens attempts found twine as Kolakofsky chested down a cross from teammate Cole Neily (Litchfield, N.H.) and Kolakofsky buried the attempt to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Franklin Pierce had a few attempts in the final minute to tie the match, but Neilly's shot struck the cross bar and Niklas Laudahn (Olfen, Germany) was stifled by Neto as the Hawks hung on for the stunning victory.

Neto earned his first win of the campaign as he stopped six shots. Poon-Lewis took the loss and fell to 5-1-1 while making one save.

The Ravens will look to get back on the winning track when they return to campus to host the University of New Haven Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
