Maddox, Raven Defense Dispatch #25 Le Moyne in Double OT

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 12, 2017) – Franklin Pierce University men's soccer sophomore midfielder Jacob Maddox (Southborough, Mass.) tallied his first ever college goal in the 102nd minute of sudden death overtime as the Ravens came into Ted Grant Field and Le Moyne College to shutout the no. 25 nationally-ranked Dolphins 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

The contest was Northeast-10 Conference opener for each squad and with the win, the Ravens remain undefeated at 3-0, 1-0 NE10 while the loss was the first of the year for the host Dolphins (3-1, 0-1 NE10).

Maddox guided the Ravens to the win by cleaning up a missed shot by teammate and fellow midfielder Noam Kolakofsky (Liman, Israel). Reigning NE10 Goalie of the Week, Ben Beaury turned away Kolakofsky's shot attempt, but Maddox was there collect the loose ball off a failed clear from the left side and sent the Ravens back to Rindge with the win.

"It was a superb defensive effort by the guys" said Raven head coach Roy Fink. "We played our brand of soccer and put a lot of pressure on Le Moyne. We were having chances and it was just a matter of time before a goal was coming. It was a great team effort by everyone."

The Ravens backfield did their best to protect sophomore goalkeeper Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) as the netminder only needed to make one save in the duel. Poon-Lewis recorded his second straight shutout and fifth of his collegiate career as he hasn't been scored upon in his last 234:50 minutes in the cage.

Ben Beaury suffered his first loss of the 2017 season. He stopped five shots in the setback.

The Ravens will look to increase their winning streak to four games this Saturday when they host NE10 foe Assumption College on Sodexo Field at 7:30 p.m.
