Men's Soccer Selected to Finish Fifth in NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll

RINDGE, N.H. (August 14, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team has been selected to finish fifth in the Northeast-10 Conference after the announcement of the 2017 Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll last Friday afternoon by the league offices.

The Ravens earned 126 total points which placed them fifth out of the 14 NE10 programs. Defending NE10 Champion, the no. 5 nationally-ranked Adelphi University Panthers landed in the top spot in the poll as they snagged 168 points and 12 of 14 first place votes. No. 22 ranked Southern New Hampshire University tallied 21 points less than Adelphi and was rewarded with the second spot. Le Moyne College collected the final two first place votes as they sat in third while no. 25 Merrimack College (138) points and Franklin Pierce round out the conference's top-five.

In 2016, the Crimson and Grey recorded their seventh winning season in the last nine years with a 12-6, 9-4 NE10 mark which was also good enough for their first trip to the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament since 2012. The Ravens signature win of last season came on September 28th when they shocked no. 2 nationally-ranked Southern New Hampshire 1-0 on Sodexo Field in Rindge as Marius Preber deposited a dagger in the 88th minute. Later on in the campaign, the Ravens defeated SNHU again at home in the NE10 Quarterfinals 2-1 for the program's first NE10 postseason victory since 2011 as returning defender Charlie Madden (Newton Abbott, Devon) headed home the game-winner 12 minutes into extra time.

Franklin Pierce will begin their 2017 campaign on Saturday, September 2nd when they travel to non-conference foe the University of Bridgeport at 6:00 p.m.
