Road Warriors: Men’s Soccer Earns Third Straight Road Win, Bests Stonehill 3-1

EASTON, Mass. (September 17, 2016) – Since the home opener on September 3rd, the Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team played three contests on the road, winning one non-conference duel and one Northeast-10 Conference contest. The Crimson and Grey continued their winning ways Saturday as they defeated league foe Stonehill, 3-1 for their third straight away victory. With the win, the Ravens move to 4-0, 2-0 NE-10 and return to Rindge for three straight home conference contests beginning Wednesday.

FPU's offensive attack has been electric through four games as they currently lead the Northeast-10 in goals for with 14.

Team captain Marius Preber (Jessheim, Norway) tallied his team and league leading sixth goal in the 57th minute that he tipped in off a feed from Casey Schehl (Bedford, N.H.), who racked up two helper in the contest. Freshman Jacob Blixt (Borrby, Sweeden) continued his strong week, scoring his fifth goal of the season as he followed his own blocked shot and rifled home the rebound. Blixt and Preber lead the league in points with 14 and 12 respectively.

Hamish Cadigan (Christchurch, New Zealand) got the Ravens on the board first 20 minutes in as the junior defensemen received a cross from Schehl that Cadigan put home into the right corner of the net.

Stonehill scored a garbage time goal in the 78th minute to make it 3-1. Goalkeeper Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad and Tobago) moved to 4-0 on the year with three saves in 26:29. Aidan Abolfazli Worcester, Mass.) played the rest of the match in the cage for FPU and made two stops.

The Ravens return to the pitch Wednesday for the first of three straight conference home matches against American International at 7:00 p.m.
