Ravens visit New Haven next Saturday

Ravens Men's Soccer The Ravens are idle for a week before traveling to New Haven next Saturday.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (October 18, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team went on the road on Saturday evening and was unable to solve Adelphi senior goalkeeper Ahmad Salamah in a 2-0 loss in Northeast-10 Conference play at Motamed Field. Sophomore midfielder Caelan Hueber scored the game-winning goal in the 14th minute for Adelphi.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 7-5-1 (5-4-1 Northeast-10), while Adelphi improves to 9-4-0 (7-3-0 Northeast-10).

Adelphi got the only goal it would need in the 14th minute on Saturday. Senior back John Sabal was left with just an assist on the play, as his header beat Franklin Pierce freshman goalkeeper Jordan LeGuyader (Jersey, United Kingdom), but rang off the post instead of finding the net. The rebound came to Hueber, who salted it away for his sixth goal of the season.

The game would remain 1-0 through halftime until the Panthers struck again in the 70th minute to create the 2-0 final. Senior midfielder Diego Zuniga struck the ball from outside the penalty area, about 22 yards out, and found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season as well.

LeGuyader finished with three saves against five shots on net and took the loss (7-3-1) in goal for Franklin Pierce. Meanwhile, Salamah stopped all three shots on his goal to pick up the win (9-2-0) and his third shutout of the season between the pipes for Adelphi.

The Ravens return to the field on Saturday, Oct. 25, when they travel to New Haven for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Kayo Field in West Haven, Conn.
