GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (April 28, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team 2018 season came to an end Saturday afternoon with a 17-9 setback to Northeast-10 Conference and no. 6 nationally-ranked Adelphi University on Motamed Field. With the victory, the Panthers head to NE10 Championships with a 10-3 overall and a 9-2 conference mark while the Ravens complete the year at 5-8, 3-8 NE10.

For the Ravens, Benjamin Lassow (Mansfield, Conn.) dumped in three goals off 11 shots. Freshman midfielder Nevin Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist while seven other Ravens amassed one point apiece. In his final collegiate game, Matthew Pinto (Babylon, N.Y.) earned the start between the pipes and made three saves across 19:07 minutes in net. He was relieved by freshman Justin Lorenzo (Goshen, N.Y.) who played the majority of the contest in the cage.

Adelphi was led by a five-goal performance from Nicolas Racalbuto while John Arcidiacono chipped in two goals and one assist. Brendan McDougal started in net for the hosts and made seven saves on the way to his 10th victory of the season. The Panthers held the advantage in faceoff wins (24-to-6) and groundballs (40-to-24) while the Ravens scored the only "man up goal" and recorded one more shot than their counterparts.

The Panthers racked up the opening two goals of the contest as Racalbuto took a pass from Ian Kirby and deposited a shot into the cage. About 45 seconds later, Arcidiacono chipped in his first goal of the game to push Adelphi ahead by two.

Franklin Pierce immediately knotted the score at 2-2 following a "man advantage" goal off the stick of Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.Y.) following a pushing penalty by Nicholas Badaracco. At the 9:30 mark, Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) rifled home his 22nd goal of the year to bring the game to a deadlock. With 4:28 remaining in the quarter, Racalbuto netted his first of three consecutive markers, which gave the Panthers a lead they would not relinquish.

In the second quarter, the hosts outscored the Ravens 6-2 to hold a 9-4 halftime edge. Two Benjamin Lassow snipes late in the third period cut the deficit to six, 12-6, however, the Panthers converted three straight goals to grow the advantage to a game-high nine goals at 15-6.
