ALBANY, N.Y. (April 21, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse senior midfielder Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) produced a team-high four points as the Ravens suffered a low scoring 10-8 setback to Northeast-10 Conference opponent the College of Saint Rose Saturday afternoon on Sullivan Field. With the victory, the Golden Knights even up their overall mark at 7-7 and move to 6-4 NE10 while the Ravens fall to 5-7, 3-7 NE10.

Delea scored one goal and assisted on a game-high three others while picking up one groundball and causing one turnover. Teammates Luke Tracy (Windham, N.H.) and Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.H.) added two goals apiece. Goalkeeper Justin Lorenzo (Goshen, N.Y.) was a brick wall as the newcomer stopped a personal-high 22 shots and shagged a squad-best eight groundballs.

Saint Rose was led by Carter Badour's five goals. Jordyn Marchiano chipped in three goals, one assist while Matt Graham scored twice. Liam Guiton won his seventh contest making 13 saves in the process.

The Golden Knights opened the scoring when Badour connected on a shot attempt to push the hosts ahead 1-0 in the early stages. A few minutes passed until the Ravens drove down into the Golden Knights defensive zone. The ball was passed around the perimeter and a shot on goal was turned away. The Ravens then went on the man advantage and could not get a shot off. 

Franklin Pierce knotted the score at 1-1 following a feed from Delea to Tracy for a catch and shoot opportunity that was cashed in at the 5:59 mark. Saint Rose regained the edge a few minutes later when Badour dumped in his second score of the contest, this time from the right wing to move the Golden Knights ahead 2-1. Badour completed the first quarter hat-trick when he picked up a loose ball after a Lorenzo save and put the second chance in high to give Saint Rose a 3-1 first quarter advantage.

With 12:04 remaining in the half, freshman midfielder Nevin Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) pulled the Ravens within one, 3-2 by depositing his first marker of the game and 12th of the campaign. Franklin Pierce eventually tied the contest once again as Castorf rifled home a shot to make the score 3-3. Following a Raven shot attempt, the Golden Knights successfully cleared the ball and set up a play in which Marchiano rolled right off a screen and buried a moving shot to regain the lead towards the hosts side before the intermission.

In the second half, Saint Rose began the new stanza fast when they won the face-off via an FPU violation. 40 second passed until they netted their fifth goal of the showdown off the stick of Marchiano to advance the margin to two, 5-3. Badour and Tracy exchanged goals a few seconds apart as the Crimson and Grey trailed 6-4 with 11:33 left in the third.

Benjamin Lassow (Mansfield, Conn.) cut the deficit to one, 6-5 by stroking a one-timer just outside the crease from the left wing midway through the third quarter. The Golden Knights tallied three consecutive goals to hold a 9-5 advantage until Castorf threw in his second score to make it a 9-6 contest.

Four minutes into the fourth, Josh Dorr (Brunswick, Maine) collected a loose ball and fed Delea. Delea eventually found Dorr for his fifth goal of the season to cut into the margin at 9-7. Seconds later, Jack Pemrick assisted on Matt Graham's tally to increase the lead back to three at 10-7. Delea brought the Ravens back within two, 10-8 as he curled right and dumped in a runner with 8:37 left.

Over the final minutes, the Ravens had a few chances at making it a one-possession game, but Guiton stifled FPU's shots to hang on for the slim victory.

The Ravens wrap up their regular season next Saturday when they head to no. 6 nationally-ranked Adelphi University for a 1:00 p.m. duel.
