RINDGE, N.H. (April 30, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team fell behind early in the first half, and created a deficit it could not come back from. Pace was able to capitalize on its faceoff wins to take the game, 17-8, on Saturday afternoon in the Northeast-10 conference match-up on Sodexo Field.

With the loss, the Ravens finish their season at 5-7 overall record, with their conference record sitting at 4-6. Meanwhile, the Pace Setters advance their record 11-5 overall and 7-4 in conference.

The Ravens tallied the first two goals of the game, back-to-back, from sophomore midfielder Brad Chapdelaine (Goffstown, N.H.) and junior attack Anthony D'Aprile (Smithtown, N.Y.).

Pace went on to score three goals in a row to take the lead, with junior attack Peter Sharp scoring the first goal for the Setters. Sophomore midfielder Ben Lassow (Mansfield, Conn.) had the answer to close out the first quarter in a 3-3 tie.

Pace went on a 4-0 run over the first six minutes of the second quarter, with Sharp accounting for two of those goals. Sophomore midfielder Louis Palumbo (Commack, N.Y.) sprinted downfield with the ball, threw a fake-out pass and then scored for the Ravens to break the streak, and cut the lead to 7-4. Lassow followed up Palumbo's goal a minute later to bridge the gap, but Pace answered at the six-minute mark to finish the first-half scoring, with an 8-5 Setters lead.

The third quarter was a 3-1 scoring run for Pace. Franklin Pierce got on the board early with a goal from junior midfielder Nick Bradshaw (Westbury, N.Y.), but the Setters commanded the quarter with two more goals, making it a 12-7 Pace lead going into the final stanza.

In the final quarter, Pace was able to score the first five goals of the period. Senior attack Casey Burnett (Windham, N.H.) was able to get the 84th and final goal of his career with eight seconds on the board, just before the Ravens fell, 17-8.

Lassow lead the Ravens in scoring with two goals, while junior defender Robert Meyers (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) collected five ground balls. As a team, the Ravens took 38 shots, collected 32 ground balls, caused six turnovers and went 100% in clears (22-for-22).

Saturday's losing keeper was senior Nick Burgio (Hillsboro, N.H.), with his record now 0-2 on the season. Burgio faced 16 shots on goal over the first half of the game, and made six saves.

Pace was led by Sharp with six goals. The Setters totaled 48 shots, 40 ground balls and caused sixed turnovers.

The winning goalie was sophomore Robert Beshlian, whose record is now 11-5. He faced 22 shots and made 14 saves on the day.
