NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (April 12, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team was not able to recover from an eight-goal third-quarter haul by No. 3 nationally ranked Merrimack on Tuesday afternoon. The Ravens fell on the road in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up at Martone-Mejail Field, 19-7.

The Ravens fell to an overall record of 4-6, including 3-5 in Conference play. Meanwhile, the Merrimack Warriors advance to 9-1 overall and 7-1 in the Northeast-10.

Merrimack got on the board first, but the Ravens took three straight tallies to put them up with two minutes to go in the first quarter, 3-2. Sophomore midfielder Ben Lassow (Mansfield, Conn.), junior midfielder Nick Bradshaw (Westbury, N.Y.) and junior defenseman Robert Meyers (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) recorded the goals.

The Warriors were able to rush two goals in the final minute of the first, to regain the lead, 4-3, in favor of Merrimack going into the second.

A quick Warrior goal off the whistle and two more unanswered goals put the crimson and grey behind, 7-3. With eight minutes left in the first half, Raven sophomore defender Chris Morales (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) scored a goal to cut into the deficit and bring the score to 7-4 going into the second half.

Freshman midfielder Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.Y.) scored first in the half to make it a 7-5 game. Then, an 8-0 Warrior run over the remainder of the 15 minutes would require Franklin Pierce to play catch up in the last quarter, trailing 15-5.

In the final quarter, sophomore midfielder Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) and senior attack Casey Burnett (Windham, N.H.) were able to score, but their last-quarter efforts were not enough to come back from the third-quarter deficit. The Ravens took the loss on the road, 19-7.

Sophomore keeper Connor Wacksman (Guilderland, N.Y.) took the loss on Tuesday, as he faced 25 shots on goal and made 10 saves, with his record now standing at 4-5. Warriors keeper Sam Ventresca faced 19 shots and made 12 saves in the win, moving his record to 9-1.

The Ravens totaled 34 shots, caused six turnovers and collected 31 ground balls. Meanwhile, Merrimack took 48 shots and collected 52 ground balls.

The Ravens return home to play host to Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, April 16, at 12 p.m.
