RINDGE, N.H (April 2, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team held the No. 2 nationally ranked Le Moyne Dolphins to a close game for the first three quarters, but went blank in the fourth, as the Dolphins took over for the win, 10-5, in Saturday afternoon's Northeast-10 Conference contest at Sodexo Field.

With the loss, the Ravens fall to an overall record of 3-4, including 2-3 in the conference. Le Moyne extends their perfect record 9-0 overall, and 5-0 in the NE-10.

The winning goalie on Saturday was Le Moyne senior Alex Krawec, with a total of nine saves against 14 shots on goal. He also collected three ground balls, while pushing his record to 9-0. Ravens sophomore keeper Connor Wacksman (Guilderland, N.Y.) took the loss, falling to 3-3, as he made 12 saves on 22 shots and collected two ground balls.

The Ravens got the first goal of the game, as junior defender Robert Meyers (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) got the ball off of a turnover and took it down field for a man-down goal.

The Dolphins answered a minute later to tie the game, but freshman midfielder Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.Y.) set the Ravens ahead again, as he struck for back-to-back goals for a 3-1 lead. With seconds left on the clock, the Dolphins cut into the deficit with a goal from midfielder graduate student Matt Taylor, as the game headed into the second quarter with the score 3-2 in favor of the Ravens.

The second quarter started with a Raven goal by sophomore midfielder Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) from just outside the crease, as Franklin Pierce extended the lead to 4-2.

A defensive lockdown prevented scoring until six minutes to play in the second, when Le Moyne senior attackman Logan Thomas scored, followed by junior midfielder Brian Rogers with the equalizer heading into the third quarter. Each team would strike once in the third quarter to leave the game level at 5-5 heading into the fourth.

With the first goal of the final quarter, senior attackman Andrew Jackson scored the eventual game-winner to set Le Moyne ahead, 6-5. The Dolphins remained in control of scoring for the remainder of the game, getting three more goals from Rogers, and the Ravens fell, 10-5.

Franklin Pierce was led by Castorf with two goals, as well as freshman attack Luke Tracy (Pelham, N.H.), Delea and Meyers with one each. Freshman defender Joseph Kempton (Valley Stream, N.Y.) collected three ground balls on the day. As a team, the Ravens took 25 shots, collected 15 ground balls, and went 86% in clears (18-21).

Rodgers led Le Moyne with four goals on the day, while Taylor had two and senior attack Mike Jenkins collected 10 ground balls for the Dolphins. As a team they totaled 50 shots and 32 ground balls and went 89% (17-19) in clears.

The Ravens play host to Assumption College on April 6 at 4 p.m. for a Northeast-10 game on Sodexo Field.
