RINDGE, N.H. (March 26, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team played host to the American International Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon, in a Northeast-10 match-up. Senior attackman Casey Burnett (Windham, N.H.) scored four goals in the Ravens win over AIC at home on Sodexo Field, 16-5.

With the win, Franklin Pierce advances their record to an overall of 3-2, including 2-1 in conference play, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 0-9 overall and 0-6 in the NE-10.

The winning goalkeeper for Franklin Pierce was sophomore Connor Wacksman (Guilderland, N.Y.), as he made eight saves on the day, advancing his record to 3-1. The losing keeper, AIC junior John Magliano (0-2), made 21 saves against 37 shots on goal.

The Ravens jumped out front early in the game to a 3-0 lead, with freshman Luke Tracy (Pelham, N.H.), along with sophomores Aaron Lassow (Mansfield, Conn.) and Jack Carney (Dunbarton, N.H.), scoring the first three goals. The Yellow Jackets were able to get two goals to keep the score close, but the Ravens led going into the second quarter, 5-2.

Burnett had back-to-back goals to start the second, and sophomore Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) rounded out the quarter with a goal to push the Ravens further ahead, 8-2, to end the first half.

Franklin Pierce was able to score another three consecutive goals in the third quarter, but freshman Hunter Cooney was able to slip past and score for the Yellow Jackets, making it 12-3 to end the third.

Carney and freshman Jake Castorf (Holbrook, N.Y.) connected for back-to-back goals, extending the lead to 14-3. AIC was able to get two more goals before the game ended, but it was not nearly enough to come back from the first-half deficit, and the Yellow Jackets fell, 16-5.

Leading the Ravens was Burnett with four goals and three assists, while Carney, Delea and Castorf all had two goals each. Carney and sophomore Brad Chapdelaine (Goffstown, N.H.) both collected five ground balls.

As a team, Franklin Pierce totaled 38 ground balls, 64 shot attempts and eight caused turnovers. The Ravens cleared 18 of 21 attempts, and won 13 of 25 faceoffs.

For AIC, Lucas Bombardier was the only player to tally multiple points, as he went for three points on two goals and an assist. Senior midfielder Michael Palmieri collected six ground balls.

The Ravens are in action next on the road on Tuesday, March 29, at Saint Anselm at 4 p.m.
