Men's Lacrosse Falls to Le Moyne 12-8 in NE-10 Semifinal

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (May 1, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team travelled Le Moyne College for the semifinal round of the Northeast-10 Championship. Eight different Ravens scored on Friday afternoon at Ted Grant Field, however, it was not enough to hold off Le Moyne from taking the 12-8 win.           

With the loss, the Ravens conclude their season 12-4, while Le Moyne advances with a  14-1 record.

After the conclusion of the Championship on Sunday afternoon, freshman midfielder Brad Chapdelaine (Goffstown, N.H.) was named to the All-Championship Team by the Northeast-10.

The Ravens scored the first two goals of the game courtesy of senior Erik Kelly (Tewksbury, Mass.) from junior Brenden Caldeira (Sandwich, Mass.) at 13:48, followed by an unassisted goal at 5:45 by junior Casey Burnett (Windham, N.H.).  Although the Ravens held Le Moyne off for the first 14:59, the Dolphins scored in the final second ending the first quarter 2-1.

At 7:55 in the second quarter, Le Moyne tied the game up. However, freshman Ben Lassow (Mansfield, Conn.) responded back not even a minute later to hold the Raven advantage, 3-2.

Le Moyne began a rally at 6:29 scoring five goals in the second quarter to end the half 7-3, and ended their rally at 12:43 in the third quarter. Freshman Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) and junior Dylan Leone (Tewksbury, Mass.) from Burnett scored two goals to cut into the Dolphin lead, 8-5. Le Moyne would score one more goal to finish the quarter 9-5.

Senior Kevin Dargin (Littleton, Mass.) started the fourth quarter out strong for the Ravens off a pass by senior Eddie Noonan (Foxboro, Mass.) to bring the game within three goals. Senior goalkeeper Don Denman (Exeter, N.H.) held off the Dolphins for over 15 minutes, before Le Moyne scored two goals to hold their lead. Caldeira responded seconds later with an unassisted goal, followed by senior Cody MacLellan (Keene, N.H.) from freshman Jack Carney (Dunbarton, N.H.). Le Moyne would score one more goal holding the final decision at 12-8.

Chapdelaine and sophomore Robert Meyers (Pompton Lakes, N.J.) led the defense each grabbing four ground balls. Don Denman made 12 saves to take the loss (12-4) in his 60:00 of play.

Senior goalkeeper Alex Krawec took the win for Le Moyne (14-1) making 13 saves in his 60:00 of play.
