Late Dargin Goal Gives Men's Lacrosse 7-6 Win Over Saint Rose

RINDGE, N.H. (April 4, 2015) – The game would be tied four times on Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field. Senior Kevin Dargin (Littleton, Mass.) would  score his first goal in his return to the field with 13 seconds left in the game to give the Franklin Pierce University men's lacrosse team a 7-6 victory against Saint Rose. With the win, the team set a new program record for wins in a season, which was set in the 2012 season.

The Ravens improve to 8-2, with a 5-2 record in  the Northeast-10 Conference with the victory, while Saint Rose falls to 3-6 overall, and 2-4 in conference play.

Freshman Louis Palumbo (Commack, N.Y.) tied the game 1-1 with just over 10 minutes to play in the first quarter. In the final two minutes, Saint Rose would score to take the lead, 2-1. 

Ryan McFee would briefly increase the Golden Knight lead, but senior Erik Kelly (Tewksbury, Mass.) cut the advantage back to one goal, 3-2. 

Saint Rose increased their lead to two goals, 4-2,  at 13:08 in the third quarter. Senior Eddie Noonan (Foxboro, Mass.) would respond to keep the game within one goal and junior Casey Burnett  (Windham, N.H.) would tie the game 4-4 at 6:54.

With just under a minute to in the third quarter, senior Kevin Flemming would take back the lead for Saint Rose. Noonan responded with four seconds on the clock to tie the game, 5-5.

With 6:55 to play, Kelly would regain the lead for Franklin Pierce. However, the goal was counted minutes later by Saint Rose to tie the game 6-6. With 13 seconds left on the clock, Dargin would score to give the team a 7-6 win.

Kevin Flemming led the Saint Rose offense scoring two goals and assisting in another. Senior goal keeper Nick Longo saved 13 out of his 20 shots and collected six ground balls, to take the loss (3-5) during his 60:00 in cage.  

Erik Kelly had two goals and assisted in another. Eddie Noonan had a pair of goals and grabbed four ground balls. Junior Malcom Sutton (Hooksett, N.H.) grabbed five ground balls and caused two turnovers, junior Dylan Leone (Tewksbury, Mass.) caused four turnovers, grabbed two ground balls, and assisted in a goal. Senior Don Denman (Exeter, N.H.) took the win (8-2) saving 13 out of 19 shots in his 60:00 in cage.

The Ravens host Saint Michael's on Tuesday, April 7th  at 3:30 p.m. in Northeast-10 Conference play.
