Men's Lacrosse use eight unanswered goals to steal a comeback win over Post, 13-7

WATERBURY, Conn. (March 11, 2015) – Freshman Sean Delea (Hampstead, N.H.) netted a game-high five goals as the Franklin Pierce University Ravens Men's Lacrosse team mustered a fantastic come-from-behind win over Post University by a final score of 13-7 at LaMoy Field.

With the win, the Ravens improve to a perfect 3-0 on the season, while Post drops to 1-3 overall.

Early on it looked as if the Ravens didn't show up to play, as Post was able to jump out to a 5-0 in the first quarter. Dalea would tally his first goal of the game with just over two minutes to play in the quarter to make the game 5-1. The Ravens would respond right back in the second quarter as well, adding goals by senior Eddie Noonan (Foxboro, Mass.) and Dalea's second of the day. Post would add one more to make the score 6-3 Post going into halftime.

The Ravens came out of the gates hungry as the third quarter began, as Dalea tallied his third goal of the game to pull within two. Freshman Jack Carney (Dunbarton, N.H.) got in on the action as well, scoring a goal to pull the Ravens within one. Post would extend the lead back out to two at the 5:34 mark in the third on a goal by Alsharif Blackman before Carney would strike again minutes later to pull back within one.

Carney's goal at the end of the third would commence a flurry of Ravens scoring, leading to eight unanswered goals throughout the fourth quarter to lead the Ravens to the 13-7 win. Senior Erik Kelly (Tewksbury, Mass.) would score the equalizer at 13:38 remaining to tie the game at seven. Dalea would score back-to-back goals after him, followed by two more by Noonan. Joining the scoring frenzy would be juniors Casey Burnett (Windham, N.H.) and Malcolm Sutton (Hooksett, N.H.) scoring a goal apiece as well.

Joining Blackman's goal for Pace would be a pair of goals by three separate players, Trevor Buchas, Shane McKay, and Luke McDermott.

The Ravens return to the field Friday, March 13 at home on Sodexo Field as they play host to Bentley at 5 p.m.
