McGuckin Lands on NE10 Academic All-Conference Team

RINDGE, N.H. (June 11, 2018) – Senior Tom McGuckin (Clayton, N.J.) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team has earned Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the winter season, as announced earlier this spring by the Conference office. He was among 67 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the NE10.

Men’s Ice Hockey Falls at Saint Michael’s, 6-3, to Close Out Season

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (February 17, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team was able to generate 33 shots on the road on Saturday afternoon, and senior forward Jonathan Haun (Buffalo, N.Y.) scored in his final collegiate game, but it would not be enough on the road at Cairns Arena. The Ravens surrendered 41 shots and six goals to suffer a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference play. Junior forward Nic Hermary scored twice to lead the way for the Purple Knights.

Men’s Ice Hockey Posts Shutout Win at Saint Michael’s, 3-0

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (February 16, 2018) – A first-period goal from senior forward Evan Marek (Enfield, Conn.) -- his first tally of the season -- would stand up the rest of the way on the road on Friday night for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team. The Ravens picked up two more goals in the second period to pad the lead and went on to a 3-0 win over Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference play at Cairns Arena. Sophomore forward Alex Lester (Methuen, Mass.) had a goal and an assist for Franklin Pierce, while sophomore defenseman Sean Munzing (Beverly, Mass.) dished out two assists for his first career multiple-point game.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (February 13, 2018) – A 3-0 second-intermission deficit was too much for the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team to erase on the road on Tuesday night. Sophomore forward Jack Hall scored a pair of third-period insurance markers for Stonehill, as the Skyhawks took a 5-2 decision from the visiting Ravens in Northeast-10 Conference play at the Foxboro Sports Center.

Men’s Ice Hockey Doubled Up by Saint Anselm, 4-2

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 10, 2018) – A pair of goals in the third period started the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team on the comeback trail late on Saturday night, but it would not be enough to erase the troubles from earlier in the game. Saint Anselm used three first-period goals to set the table for a 4-2 win over the Ravens in Northeast-10 Conference play at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Freshman forward John Femia scored twice in the win for the Hawks.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 9, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team came up empty at home on Senior Night on Friday night, at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Instead, it was Saint Anselm freshman forward Alec Andreucci who factored in on all four of the game’s goals to lead the Hawks to a 4-0 win over the Ravens in Northeast-10 Conference play.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (January 30, 2018) – It was an offensive eruption on Tuesday night at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team and Post combined for five first-period goals, on the way to an 11-goal bonanza in a non-conference contest. In the end, Franklin Pierce prevailed, 7-4, behind two goals each from sophomore forward Cameron Shepardson (Albany, N.Y.) and junior defenseman Jack Williams (Suffield, Conn.), as well as a four-point night (1-3-4) from senior co-captain forward Jonathan Haun (Buffalo, N.Y.).

Men’s Ice Hockey Tripped Up at Assumption, 4-3

WORCESTER, Mass. (January 27, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team struck first on Saturday night at Buffone Arena, but the Ravens would later trail Assumption at both intermissions. Down by two with 10 minutes to play, Franklin Pierce struck to cut the gap to one goal in the final six minutes, but could get no closer in a 4-3 loss in Northeast-10 Conference play.

WORCESTER, Mass. (January 26, 2018) – Two goals in the first half of the second period would be all Assumption needed on Friday night at Buffone Arena. The Greyhounds cashed two more in the third to go on to deal a 4-0 defeat to the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team in Northeast-10 Conference play. Three different players had a goal and an assist each for the homestanding Greyhounds.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (January 20, 2018) – One night after the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team posted a statement win on the road on Friday night, it was Southern New Hampshire which made a statement away from home on Saturday night. The Penmen scored twice in each period to hammer out a 6-1 win in the back end of a Northeast-10 Conference home-and-home series at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Freshman defenseman Zack Ciampa led the way for SNHU with four assists.

HOOKSETT, N.H. (January 19, 2018) – Despite facing a 51-35 disadvantage in shots on goal, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team was able to pull out a 4-1 victory on the road at Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play on Friday night. The Ravens got a 50-save performance from senior goaltender Tom McGuckin (Clayton, N.J.) and scored four unanswered goals after surrendering the opening tally at the Ice Den. Senior forward Jonathan Haun (Buffalo, N.Y.) notched a goal and an assist in the win.

Late Goal Sinks Men’s Ice Hockey in 2-1 Loss to Assumption

January 16, 2018

WINCHENDON, Mass. (January 16, 2018) – With the game even at 1-1 through two periods, the Franklin Pierce University men’s ice hockey team and Assumption were locked in a battle for what could ultimately be two pivotal Northeast-10 Conference standings points on Tuesday night. After killing a penalty early in the third, the Ravens upped the pressure at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena, with extended attack-zone time, but could find a tiebreaking goal. As the period began to wind down, Assumption put together a stretch of time in the attack zone of its own and was able to convert. Senior forward Tommy Mahoney redirected home the game-winning goal with just 91 seconds remaining, as the Greyhounds pulled out a 2-1 victory.
