Men’s Golf Rallies Monday, Ties For First at Home Invitational

KEENE, N.H. (September 10, 2018) The Franklin Pierce University men's golf team knocked off nine strokes from their first-round total to shoot a 597 (+21) and finish in first place at the annual FPU Fall Invitational Monday at the Keene Country Club.

The Ravens deadlocked atop the team leaderboard with Northeast-10 Conference program Southern New Hampshire University. The Ravens shot a 303 (+15) Sunday and completed their Monday round at a tournament low 294 (+6). Fellow conference opponent Bentley University jumped from fifth place to third overall at 606 (+30).

Reigning NE10 Player of the Week Dylan Plis (Camillus, N.Y.) carried the Ravens scoring from the three spot at 145 (+1) which was good enough for a third-place finish. He was the only Raven golfer who turned in an under par scorecard when he shot a 71 (-1) Monday. Junior Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) was the other Raven who placed top-5 with a fourth-place showing at 147 (+3). Myers led the Ravens Sunday at 73 (+1) while carrying the field of golfers in par-4 scoring (3.90, -2) and he ranked second in birdies (8).

Junior Anthony Vincequere (Millbury, Mass.) putted home a 73 (+1) Monday to complete the invitational tied for 12th at 152 (+8). Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.) and Nathan Patterson (Conway, Mass.) also contributed to the Raven team scoring by carding 153 (+9) and 161 (+17). Patterson was the Ravens most improved golfer dropping nine strokes from his Sunday performance while he was second in pars at 27.

Five Raven golfers participated as individuals in the tournament. Freshman Conner MacDonald (Kennebunkport, Maine) led all FPU individuals at 156 (+12). Nate Goldsnider (Bolton, Conn.) tacked on a 167 (+23), Jarod Buffone (Sutton, Mass.) chipped in a 170 (+26) while Justin Bennett (Acushnet, Mass.) and Jason Vadnais (Arundel, Maine) added 172 (+28) scores.

Franklin Pierce remains in the Granite State next Monday when they travel to Southern New Hampshire and the Hanover Country Club.
