Donohue Finishes Second, Carries Ravens to Third Place at SNHU

CONCORD, N.H. (April 22, 2018) Franklin Pierce University men's golf sophomore Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) helped lead the Ravens to a third-place finish at the Penmen Spring Invitational hosted by Southern New Hampshire University this past Saturday and Sunday at the Beaver Meadow Golf Club in Concord, N.H.

Donohue took home a second place finish, his highest over his brief collegiate career as he shot a team-low 143 (-1). He dropped one stroke from his Saturday scorecard and putted home seven birdies, the third most in the field of golfers.

As a team, the Ravens headed back to Rindge with third place as they shot a 300 (+12) Saturday and a 294 (+6) Sunday totaling 594 (+18). Non-conference opponent Roberts Wesleyan College brought home first place at 580 (+4) while the host Penmen, who were tied for first following 18 holes, slipped to second.

Donohue's teammate Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) subtracted seven swings from his Saturday performance to climb into the top-10 at 149 (+5) while also ranking fifth in total pars (25). Dylan Plis (Camillus, N.Y.) produced a top-15 score at 150 (+6). Taylor Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.) knocked off three strokes Sunday to conclude the two rounds at 153 (+9) and Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.) tallied a consistent 77 (+5) across 36 holes.

Franklin Pierce, who currently ranks seventh in the latest NCAA Division II Men's Golf Regional Rankings, will look to see if they earned their second consecutive trip to the Regionals in May.
