WEST CHESTER, Pa. (April 10, 2018) Franklin Pierce University women's senior golfer Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) won her third individual championship of the 2017-18 season as Ravens golf competed at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational hosted by the Penn Oaks Golf Club Monday and Tuesday.

Morrison successfully defended her 2017 Cottrell Invitational Individual Title (159, +17) as the team captain set a new tournament record by notching a 152 (+12) two-day total. The first place finish was Morrison's third of the campaign as she outright won the Le Moyne Fall Invitational (145, +1) and the FPU Fall Invitational (149, +5).

As a team, the Raven women stayed in third place completing the two rounds at 662 (+102). The top-two squads remained unchanged on Tuesday with Kutztown University (652, +92) and host West Chester University (655, +95) taking home the first and second slot.

The men's squad also made the trek to Southern Pennsylvania. The Crimson and Grey knocked off nine strokes from their Monday total to wrap up the tournament at 615 (+55). They also jumped one ranking in the team leaderboard from sixth to fifth place.

Women

The Raven women stood in third place out of 12 programs Monday after totaling a 327 (+47) round one showing. They were only 10 strokes behind the leaders, Kutztown (317, +37) and five strokes back of West Chester (322, +42) for the second spot.

Morrison led the Raven women after the first 18 holes. She pitched in a first round 75 (+5) which placed her second individually and only two strokes behind the clubhouse leader, Krystal Knight (73, +3) of Merrimack College. Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) was tied for 10th place after dropping home an 82 (+12) afternoon. Teammate Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) tallied an 83 (+13) and was slotted into a tie for 14th on the individual leaderboard.

Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) and Sydney Caron (Gorham, Maine) produced 87 (+17) and 96 (+26) cards to wrap up the Raven scoring Monday.

On Tuesday, the Crimson and Grey tacked on strokes to their score (335, +55), but held a comfortable lead in the third slot. Yamamoto stayed even at 82 to finish her two rounds at 164 (+24) as the sophomore climbed into a tie for ninth place. Caron had a strong Tuesday subtracting a team-high eight strokes from her round one total to reach 39th place at 184 (+44).

Men

The men's squad tallied a 312 (+32) opening 18 mark as they held sixth place. They trailed the leader California (Pa.) by only 12 strokes, second place squad Millersville University by 11 and third slotted Indiana University of Pennsylvania by only eight.

Individually, Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.) and Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) paced Pierce putting home 76 (+6) performances as the duo was tied for 11th place. Team captain Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) was deadlocked at 15th place (77, +7) while Dylan Plis (Camillus, N.Y.) and Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) rounded out the day one scores racking up an 83 (+13) and an 84 (+14).

Four of the five Raven golfers bettered their day one performances with three players completing the course with top-15 finishes. Foster leapfrogged into the top-10 after shooting a 72 (+2) Tuesday to conclude the tourney in seventh place at 148 (+8). Donohue tied for 13th at 154 (+14), his second top-15 performance on the season. Arisco slotted with Donohue for 13th as he shot a consistent 77 (+7) both rounds.

Myers and Plis were key to the Ravens Tuesday success as the pair upped their game during the final 18 holes. Myers improved his place in the rankings by 10 spots, from 43rd to 33rd as the sophomore shaved off a team-best eight strokes off his Monday score to finalize the scorecard at 160 (+20). Plis moved up six spots into a tie for 35th after putting home a 78 (+8) Tuesday.
