Men’s Golf Collects First Tourney Win, Myers, Foster Finish First and Second Individually

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (October 7, 2017) Coming off a sixth-place finish at the Northeast-10 Championship early in the week, the Franklin Pierce University men's golf team hoped to rebound at the Saint Rose Fall Shootout. The Ravens did just that as they led wire to wire and earned their first team tournament title of the 2017-18 golf season Saturday.

The tournament was hosted by fellow NE10 program the College of Saint Rose at the Pinehaven Country Club, a par 71, 6,500-yard course in Guilderland, N.Y.

Franklin Pierce finished the two-day tourney with a total of 588 (+20) which was nine strokes better than second place squad Le Moyne College (597, +29). The host Golden Knights flip-flopped in the overall standings with the Dolphins to place third at 603 (+35). Last season, the Crimson and Grey placed sixth overall of nine competing squads at the Fall Shootout.

FPU was led by a trio of top-10 golfers including first and second place finishes by classmates Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) and Keeton Foster (Spofford, N.H.). Myers never moved from the top spot in the rankings as he was the clubhouse leader all weekend. The sophomore poured in a 70 (-1) showing through his first 18 holes while shooting only three over 74 (+3) on Saturday. Foster, who dropped three strokes off his day one score, was only one stroke behind his teammate as he finished both days with a 145 (+3) scorecard.

Dylan Plis (Camillus, N.Y.) rounded out the top-10 scores for the Ravens as he pitched in a 149 (+7) two-round total. Plis fell three spots in the individual rankings into a tie for ninth place, but he only tacked on one stroke to his first round total.

Sophomore Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) who was tied for third place on Friday (73, +3), finished the tourney in a tie for 16th place at 153 (+11). Teammate Anthony Vincequere (Millbury, Mass.) was the Ravens most improved golfer on Saturday because he knocked off four strokes from his round one card to finish at 158 (+16). Vincequere golfed a 77 (+6) on Saturday compared to an 81 (+10) Friday.

The Ravens head back to the course on Friday, October 13 when they travel back to New York and NE10 foe Le Moyne College.
