Ravens Golf in Tough Conditions During Spring Opener

WILSON, N.C. (March 13, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University men's golf team traveled away from New Hampshire to Wilson, North Carolina on Monday for the Barton College Intercollegiate at the Wilson Country Club.

The Ravens returned to the course after a five month hiatus and battled tough conditions such as cold temperatures, rain and wind which led to a seventh place (326, +38) finish after day one. Host Barton College (299, +11) stands alone in first place and they are followed by Southern New Hampshire University (305, +17) and The University of Mount Olive (308, +20) to round out the top three.

Freshman Keeton Foster (Chesterfield, N.H.) leads all Raven golfers with a 78 (+6), good enough for a tie for 17th place individually. Team captain Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) (79, +7), junior Taylor Simpson (Londonderry, N.H) (84, +12) and senior Ben French (Newton, N.H) all rank within the Intercollegiate top-50 while Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) struck an 87 (+15) after the first day of golf.

The Ravens will look to improve their place in the standings with the final day of competition set for tomorrow.
