Men’s Golf Wraps up Fall Schedule with Fifth Place Finish at NEIGA Championships

BREWSTER, Mass. (October 24, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce men's golf team finished their fall slate of competition with a fifth place finish at the 82nd Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships Monday in Brewster, Mass at The Captains Course.

159 golfers from 32 colleges and universities across New England and New York from Divisions II, III and Club teams competed over two days.

After a second place finish on day one, the Ravens slipped to fifth during the second day shooting 318 (+30) and an overall 631 (+55). Northeast-10 opponent Southern New Hampshire won the team title at 616 (+40) and was followed by Saint Anselm (625, +49) and Bentley (627, +51).

Taylor Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.) tied for eighth place (154, +10) after adding four strokes to his day one scorecard. Simpson headed into the clubhouse after the first day of play in a tie for second place.

Day One

Freshman standout Keeton Foster (Chesterfield, N.H.) was tied for fourth place after day one shooting a 76 (+4) on the par 72 course. Classmate Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) stroked an 80 (+8) which was good enough for a 17th place tie. Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) hit 82 (+10) and Ben French (Newton, N.H.) shot an 86 (+14).

Day Two

Foster played a 79 (+7) 18 holes Monday which placed him in a tie for 11th place overall. Myers dropped two strokes off his day one card at 78 (+6), but remained in a 17th place standstill. Arisco gained one stroke to his score (83, +11), but dropped to 31st and French played four strokes better than day one at 82 (+10).
