Men’s Golf Improves from Last Year, Finishes Fifth at NE-10 Championships

VALATIE, N.Y. (October 3, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce men's golf team finished in fifth place during the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championship. This was an improvement from last year as the Raven men placed sixth in 2015.

Junior Taylor Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.) had the lone top-10 finish for the Crimson and Grey as he placed ninth with a score of 148 (+4). Team captain Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) finished in a tie for 22nd place after shooting 155 (+11). Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) tied Arisco, his teammate for 22nd.

Reigning NE-10 Rookie of the Week Keeton Foster (Chesterfield, N.H.) tied for 28th at 156 (+12) and Liam Donohue (157, +13) finished 30th.

As a team, Franklin Pierce shot 611 (+35), adding only one stroke to their scorecard on day two. After two straight years of being the runner-up, Le Moyne won their second ever conference title with a 586 (+10) score. Le Moyne edged out last year's champion Southern New Hampshire by a stroke (587, +11). Saint Rose finished third at 597 (+21).

Sunday – Day One

Simpson and Myers led the squad on day one after both shooting a 75 (+3) and were tied for 14th place. Tom Arisco rounded out the top-20 finishes for FPU as the team captain stroked a 76 (+4). Liam Donohue shot a 79 (+7) and Keeton Foster rounded out the Ravens first day showing with an 80 (+8).

Monday – Day Two

Simpson was once again the Raven leader on the second day as he took two strokes off his day one score for a 73 (+1). Foster was by far the most improved golfer for FPU on Monday as he dropped four strokes off his score for a 76 (+4). Liam Donohue was the last Raven to lessen his score (78, +6) on the final day of competition.
