Morang’s 79 leads Men’s Golf to seventh place finish at Division II Challenge

QUECHEE, Vt. (September 26, 2015) – Freshman Taylor Morang (Winthrop, Maine) put himself in conversation as a contending rookie, as she shot a team-best 79 (+7) to better his previous day score by seven strokes, leading the Franklin Pierce University Men's Golf team to a seventh place finish at the Division II Challenge held at Quechee Club Highlands Course.

Despite the low score, Morang wasn't the top Raven finish on the board, as senior Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) pulled into the clubhouse shooting an 81 (+9) to go with his 80 (+8) from Friday, giving him a 19th place finish.

Senior Travis Landry (Loudon, N.H.) put up the best overall score for the Franklin Pierce on Friday, but didn't quite best himself Sunday by shooting an 87 (+15), and finishing tied for 22nd. Fellow senior Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) put together a second-day round of 82 (+10) to help him to a finish tied for 40th. Rounding out the Ravens participation was sophomore Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) who shot a second-day 86 (+14) to finish 43rd overall.

Atop the team leaderboard is both LeMoyne and Southern New Hampshire, who would finish 1-2. Both teams shared a score of 310 (+22) going into Saturday, but LeMoyne bettered the Penmen by two strokes to take the team championship ahead of Bentley and Dowling in third and fourth.

Individually, Bentley's Malcolm Oliver would take the championship by shooting a two-day total of 145 (+1), winning by five strokes over LeMoyne's Aiden Fuller and John Clare.

Franklin Pierce will go into action next week, Sunday, October 4 and Monday, October 5, when they participate in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship held at En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y.
