Ravens cap regular season in Le Moyne next week

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (April 13, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University men's golf team concluded play at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational, hosted by West Chester, on Monday and finished 12th, out of 14 teams. The Ravens shot a 332 (+48) on Monday at the par-71, 6564-yard Penn Oaks Golf Club, to finish with a two-day total of 654 (+86).

The Ravens, who fell off another 10 shots compared to their Sunday outing, finished 49 shots behind host West Chester, which turned in a 302-303--605 (+37) to win the Cottrell Invitational. The Golden Rams finished with a five-shot win over second-place Wilmington (Del.), which carded a 305-305--610 (+42).

Junior Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) improved by two shots to shoot a 79 (+8) on Monday to finish at 81-79--160 (+18) in a tie for 41st for the event. Freshman Will Pennington (Heswall, England) shot an 81 (+10) on Monday to finish one better than Adjutant over the two days, by turning in a 78-81--159 (+17) to finish tied for 36th in the 74-golfer field. An 83 (+12) from freshman Hunter Byram (Coventry, Conn.) and an 89 (+18) from freshman Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) rounded out the Ravens' scoring four on the day, as the two finished at 81-83--164 (+22) and 88-89--177 (+35), respectively. Junior Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) carded a 90 (+19) on Monday to finish at 82-90--172 (+30) to round out Franklin Pierce's participation at the event.

Individually, Wilmington's Joey Russo took home medalist honors with a Monday 71 (E), to finish at 73-71--144 (+2) over 36 holes. He scored a four-shot victory over a 74-74--148 (+6) from West Chester's Ryan Fogel and a 73-75--148 (+6) from Gannon's Matt Barto.

Franklin Pierce wraps up its regular season on April 19-20, at the Mike Bello Invitational, hosted by Le Moyne at Timber Banks GC in Baldwinsville, N.Y.
