Auclair lone Raven in top 20

Auclair SHOREHAM, N.Y. (April 3, 2015) – Junior Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) led the way with a 72 (+1), but was the only member of the Franklin Pierce University men's golf team to crack 75 on Friday at the first day of the 11th Annual Memorial Tournament, hosted by Dowling at the 6,587-yard, par-71 Tall Grass CC. Through the first day of the two-day event, the Ravens are tied for ninth out of 13 teams, at 304 strokes (+20).

At the end of the first round, Franklin Pierce sits 11 shots behind first-place Chestnut Hill (293, +9), which holds a two-shot lead over Hamilton (295, +11). The Ravens are tied for ninth with the host Golden Lions, who also shot a 304 on Friday.

Individually, Auclair finds himself in the midst of a four-way tie for sixth, out of 69 competitors. The next-best Franklin Pierce finishers each shot a 76 (+5), as freshman Tom Arisco (Cheshire, Conn.) and junior Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) were among six student-athletes in a tie for 23rd. Farther down the leaderboard, freshman Will Pennington (Heswall, England) was tied for 51st with an 80 (+9) to round out Franklin Pierce's top four and the team's 304 score. Not factoring into the scoring, but still competing for the Ravens on Friday were freshmen Christopher Pasto (Newton, N.H.) in a tie for 56th with an 81 (+10) and Hunter Byram (Coventry, Conn.) in a tie for 63rd with an 84 (+13).

Auclair heads into the final round just three shots off the lead, currently held by Chestnut Hill's Sam Riemer, who fired a 69 (-2) on Friday. Chestnut Hill currently occupies the top two spots individually, as Matthew Balcer followed with a 70 (-1).

The Memorial Tournament concludes with its second round on Saturday at Tall Grass CC.
