Men's Golf Turns in Solid Second-Place Showing at Saint Rose Fall Shootout
Sean Shepard cards pair of rounds in the 70s for a 12th place finish
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (October 12, 2013) – The Franklin
Pierce University men’s golf team turned in an impressive
performance this weekend at the Saint Rose Fall Shootout, as the
Ravens carded a two-round total of 618 (+50) to tie for second
place out of 10 teams in the field at the Pinehaven Country Club in
Guilderland, N.Y.
The Ravens fired a 313 (+29) during Friday’s opening round, but went low in Saturday’s second round by carding a 21-over-par, 305, to tie for second with Dowling. Le Moyne won the team title with a score of 593 (+25)
Junior Stew Wise (Angiers, N.C.) led the Ravens during the weekend, as he placed in a tie for sixth out of 58 golfers with a two-day total of 153 (+11). He shot a 77 (+6) on Friday, and then went lower with a five-over, 76, on Saturday, as he has carded six-consecutive rounds in the 70s this fall.
Sophomore Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.) was the other Raven to card a pair of rounds in the 70s during the weekend, as he tied for 12th with a 13-over-par, 155, after posting rounds of 79 (+8) and 76 (+5).
Senior Adam Spencer (Jericho, Vt.) and sophomore Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) were the other two Ravens to finish among the top-20 in the individual standings, as they tied for 14th and 18th, respectively.
Spencer posted a 76 (+5) on Friday, and followed with an 80 (+9) on Saturday (156, +14), while Auclair rebounded from an 81 (+10) in the opening round to shoot an impressive 76 (+5) on Saturday (157, +15).
Sophomore Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) was the fifth Raven to compete in the tournament, as he tied for 21st with a two-day score of 158 (+16), including rounds of 81 (+10) and 77 (+6).
