DAY ONE RESULTS

KEENE, N.H. (September 29, 2013) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s golf team put together a respectable opening round on Sunday at the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference Championship, as the Ravens fired a 314 (+26) to sit in a tie for sixth place heading into Monday’s final round.

The conference championship is being held at the Bretwood Country Club North Course in Keene, N.H, as Franklin Pierce is serving as the host school for the event. It marks the first time in program history the school is hosting the league championship.

Defending champion Adelphi leads the tournament after 18 holes, as the Panthers carded a 299 (+11) on Sunday, followed by Bentley in second (+13, 301), and Southern New Hampshire in third (+19, 307). The Ravens sit just seven shots outside of the top three, and only two shots out of the top five in the team standings entering Monday.

Franklin Pierce was led by a pair of golfers who turned in solid rounds of 77 (+5) on Sunday, including junior Stew Wise (Angiers, N.C.) and sophomore Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.). The duo sits in a tie for 12th heading into the final 18 holes, as they will look to move into the top-10 and earn all-conference honors. Bentley’s Jon Stoddard is first in the individual competition after firing a two-under, 70, late in the afternoon.

Sophomores Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.) and Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) are tied for 29th after both shot eight-over-par, 80s. Senior Adam Spencer (Jericho, Vt.) is tied for 35th following his opening round 82 (+10).

Monday’s final round will tee off at 9 a.m. at the Bretwood North Course. The Ravens will be looking to move into the top three of the final team standings, which would mark their second top-three finish over the last three years in the league championship. The 2011 squad made program history by finishing second at the NE-10 championship, as that performance catapulted the Ravens to the NCAA Tournament that spring.
