ROUND ONE RESULTS

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (April 13, 2014) – Sophomore Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.) fired a one-over-par, 73, on Sunday to sit in fourth place following round one of the 2014 Le Moyne Mike Bello Invitational at Timber Banks Golf Course in Baldwinsville, N.Y. His 73 was part of the Franklin Pierce University men’s golf team’s impressive first-round score of 311 (+23), which is good for third place out of 14 teams entering Monday’s final round.

The Ravens will enter the final round 10 strokes back of first-place Roberts Wesleyan (301, +13), and just six strokes back of second-place Le Moyne (305, +17). A total of 75 golfers are competing in the weekend tournament.

Shepard will enter Monday’s final round just one stroke off the lead for the individual championship, as there was a three-way tie for first place following Sunday’s opening 18. Le Moyne’s John Clare, and Roberts Wesleyan’s Shane Dobesh and Shane Gleason each carded even-par 72’s on Sunday.

Shepard will also look to continue Franklin Pierce’s current streak of two-straight tournaments with a Raven finishing among the top-two in the individual standings. Sophomores Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) and Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) have turned the trick in the last two tournaments, respectively, for Franklin Pierce.

Adjutant and Auclair turned in solid first round scores in the Bello Invitational on Sunday as well, including the former throwing up a 76 (+4) to sit in a tie for ninth going into Monday. Auclair is not far back, as he carded a 77 (+5) in the opening round to sit in a tie for 12th place.

Freshman Ben French (Fremont, N.H.) was the fourth Raven to count towards Sunday’s team score, as he shot an 85 (+13) to tie for 49th place after round one. The fifth Raven to compete on the day was Jack Manning (North Reading, Mass.), as he is in 73rd place going into the final round.
