AIC RESULTS

LUDLOW, Mass. (April 12, 2014) – Sophomore Brad Auclair (Cumberland, R.I.) fired a final round, three-under-par, 69, on Friday to finish in second place at the AIC 36-Hole Spring Classic at Ludlow Country Club in Ludlow, Mass. Auclair’s performance enabled the Franklin Pierce University men’s golf team to place fourth out of five teams with a two-round score of 634 (+58).

Host-school American International won the one-day, 36-hole contest with a score of 605 (+29), as the Yellow Jackets carded rounds of 307 (+19) and 298 (+10). Franklin Pierce struggled going out with a first-round total of 324 (+36), but rallied with a solid 310 (+22) on the second 18 holes.

Auclair had an outstanding day from beginning to end, as he shot a two-over, 74, in the first round, and then turned in the 69 on the final 18 to finish with a total of 143 (-1). It marked the second-consecutive week Franklin Pierce had a golfer finish among the top two, as classmate Nick Adjutant (Rochester, N.H.) turned in a second-place effort at last weekend’s Bentley Cape Cod Classic.

Auclair’s 143 was just one stroke off of the individual title, which was claimed by AIC’s Miguel Siercke, who posted rounds of 72 and 70 to finish with a two-under 142.

Adjutant also had a solid day for the Ravens by finishing 12th with a score of 157 (+13). He dipped in the first round with an 80, but regrouped with a five-over, 77, in the final round.

Classmate Sean Shepard (Griswold, Conn.) was the third Raven to finish among the top-20, as he placed 20th with a score of 161 (+17), marking the second-straight week he finished among the top-20 in a tournament. He posted an 82 in the first round, but regrouped by throwing up a 79 on the second 18.

Freshman Ben French (Fremont, N.H.) and sophomore Jack Manning (North Reading, Mass.) were the other two Ravens to compete in the tournament, as they finished 25th and 28th, respectively. French posted a 173 (+29), while Manning had a two-round score of 178 (+34).

Franklin Pierce returns to action Sunday and Monday by competing in the Le Moyne Spring Invitational at Banks Golf Club in Baldwinsville, N.Y.
