Antonio Anderson enters his first season as an Assistant Coach with the Franklin Pierce men's basketball program in 2016-17.

A native of Lynn, Mass., Anderson graduated from the University of Memphis in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in communications. He played for Coach John Calipari from 2005-2009 at Memphis (bio).

One of the nation's top defensive players, Anderson played alongside Derrick Rose, Joey Dorsey, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Robert Dozier during the 2007-2008 season, his junior year. He was mostly assigned to guard the opponents' top perimeter player and was a dual threat offensively who could drain the three-ball and drive to the basket. Anderson played in the 2008 Final Four and reached the National Championship game against Kansas.

Anderson, the 2009 Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, was a two-time Conference USA All-Defensive Team selection, the 2008 Conference USA Tournament MVP, a 2007 Conference USA All-Tournament Team pick and made the 2006-07 collegeinsider.com All-Defensive Team.

On January 3, 2009, Anderson became only the second player in Memphis program history to record a triple-double, the other being Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists in a home contest against Lamar University.

He left Memphis as the Winningest College Basketball Player of All Time (137 Wins) and averaged 8.5 points, 3.6 assists, 1.4 steals and shot 41.8% from the hardwood. (bio)

Anderson entered the NBA as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He made the Charolotte Bobcats training camp roster, but was waived before the season started. Anderson then joined the NBA Developmental League and won the 2009-10 Developmental League Championship as a member of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. (bio)

On February 22, 2010 he was signed to his first of two ten-day contracts with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He appeared in one game and scored two points during his stint with the thunder. After his second ten-day contract expired he rejoined the Vipers. (bio)

Anderson also played for Caciques de Humacao in Puerto Rico, Ratiopharm Ulm in Germany, Saint John Mill Rats in Canada and two separate stints for the Maine Red Claws of the NBA D-League.

After his playing career concluded Anderson turned to coaching and spent the 2014-15 season as an assistant at Wheelock College and the 2015-16 season at Salem State before his stop in Rindge.
