MANCHESTER, N.H. (November 11, 2018) – Franklin Pierce University men's basketball guards Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) and Falu Seck (Washington, D.C.) scored 20-plus points apiece leading the Ravens to a 91-82 win versus non-conference opponent the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) during the final day of the Southern New Hampshire University Tournament Sunday evening at the Stan Spirou Field House. With the win, the Ravens even up their record at 1-1 while the Bears crumble to 0-2 in the early stages of the campaign.

Fadojutimi racked up a career-high 24 points on a 7-of-14 (50.0%) performance from the hardwood. The junior team captain went 4-of-7 (57.1%) from long range and a perfect 6-of-6 at the charity stripe chipping in three rebounds, three steals, one block, and one assist. Seck nearly notched his second-career double-double as he was one rebound shy of the feat crashing the boards for a personal-best nine rebounds. He dropped in 21 points with a team-high eight of them coming at the free throw line.

Sophomore guard Sam van Oostrum (Sheffield, England) made 7-of-10 of his free throw attempts for all of his points. He also handed out a game-high six assist to go along with four boards, one steal, and one block. Freshman guard Isaiah Moore (Temple Hills, Md.) played heavy minutes off the bench again and scored in double-figures for the second straight game with 10 points. Moore tallied three caroms and two steals.

Forward Jeffrey Hayden carried the load for NYIT with a game-high 26 point and 14 rebound double-double.

The game went scoreless through the opening 1:50 of the contest until Fadojutimi drained a three-pointer from the left corner to give the Ravens a 3-0 edge after they missed on their first six shot attempts. Two Hayden driving layups pushed NYIT in front twice for a total of 55 seconds. A 7-2 Raven scoring binge capped off by Seck splitting two free throws gave FPU a four-point advantage 14-10. Zahir Porter pulled up and hit an elbow jumper to make the score 19-14 in favor of the Ravens.

The Ravens opened up a double-digit lead 32-14 on the strength of a game shaping 13-0 run. The spurt was successful due to the Raven defense coming up with loose balls and forcing the Bears into turnovers with their ferocious press. Fadojutimi began the Raven run by anticipating a pass, picking off the ball and went uncontested through the left side for a highlight reel two-handed jam. Seck capped off the 13 consecutive markers drilling a three out on the right corner.

FPressU led by as many as 26 points with 37 ticks left on the clock when graduate forward Jeremy Arthur (Westbury, N.Y.) sank a catch and shoot trey from the right wing. The Crimson and Grey doubled up the designated away team 50-25 at the break.

The Ravens press was key to their successful first half. As a team, they totaled nine steals with eight different players recording a theft. Pierce also made their counterparts pay for their mistakes scoring 24 points off their 20 first stanza miscues. In all, the Crimson and Grey scored 37 points off 28 Bear turnovers.

Two Seck freebies gave the Ravens a 27-point lead just under a minute into the second half, 52-25. A 15-3 NYIT run brought the score to a 15 point Bear deficit 55-40 following a Hayden old-fashioned three-point play. FPU slowly built their lead back to 20+ points using two straight corner three-balls by Fadojutimi and junior forward Jameson Pierrelus (Martin County, Fla.) to lead 69-49 at the 9:53 mark.

A Gerard Gray Jr. (Washington, D.C.) free throw conversion with 4:20 to play gave the Ravens a comfortable 28 point, 87-59 advantage. NYIT would not back down as they outscored the Ravens 23-to-4 over the remaining portion of the contest to close the gap but still took the setback.

Jameson Pierrelus scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds with three coming on the offensive end. In limited minutes, Sean Fasoyiro (Houston, Texas) manufactured seven points and five boards for the Ravens.

The Ravens remain on the road Wednesday when they take on Caldwell University at 6:00 p.m.
