MANCHESTER, N.H. (November 12, 2017) – Sophomore guard Falu Seck (Washington, D.C.) was one of four starters in double-figure points with career-high 18 points as the Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team completed their weekend run at the Southern New Hampshire University Tournament with a 91-56 win versus non-conference foe the University of District of Columbia Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Ravens close their opening weekend with a 2-0 mark while the Firebirds fizzle out to 0-2.

Seck shot 50.0% (7-of-14) from the hardwood as he took a team-high 14 shots in the win. He came up with a game-best three steals while adding three assists and two rebounds. Teammate and senior forward Asante Sandiford (Boston, Mass.) recorded his first double-double of the season with 16 points and a contest-high 11 rebounds with five coming on the offensive end while converting 58.3% (7-of-12) of his shot attempts. Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) had an all-around effort with 10 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Freshman guard Sam van Oostrum (Sheffield, England) made his first career collegiate start and poured in five points while dishing out a game-high seven assists and snagging five boards.

Junior guard David Bradbury (Deep River, Conn.) and freshman forward Devonte McCall (Amherst, Mass.) were productive in their limited bench minutes as they scored 10 and seven points apiece in 10 and seven minutes played.

The Ravens continued their strong shooting at the SNHU Fieldhouse as they followed up yesterday's showing with a 49.3% (34-of-69) effort today. FPU made their free throws in this contest as they shot 81.3% (13-of-16) from the charity stripe, outrebounded DC by a 49-to-41 margin and scored more points in the post (38-to-26). The Raven reserves also were superior as they outscored the Firebirds bench 28-to-10.

DC began the game with a full court press hoping to force the Ravens into some mistakes. Fadojutimi corralled a loose ball and made a pass to Sandiford for the first bucket of the game. With the game tied at 5-5 after a Quadire Truesdale three-pointer, Fadojutimi collected a full-court heave from van Oostrum and slammed home a one-handed jam from the right side to put the Ravens ahead 7-5. The Firebirds notched five straight points off a jumper from Traevon Butler and driving and1 layup by Maurice Waters to regain the edge at 10-7 with 15:38 left in the half.

Both teams swapped points as the Ravens finally regained the lead by using a 17-2 run to move ahead by 12, 28-16 with 7:53 left to play. Seck tallied a jumper then banked in a three from the top of the key with the shot clock expiring. He then immediately stole the ball away on the ensuing DC possession and made an outlet pass to Fadojutimi as the junior converted an easy fast break two to push the Ravens advantage to 18-14. Following two made freebies by the Firebirds, McDevitt swished home a corner three and converted a jumper after a Fadojutimi stuff. Sandiford capped off the run from the opposite corner with a trey and an euro step layup around a defender off another Fadojutimi theft to increase the Raven edge.

Butler and Truesdale cut the deficit to single figures before the Ravens erupted for a 14-6 binge to close the half to lead at the intermission by 16 points, 43-27.

As they did yesterday, FPU shot a strong percentage from the hardwood in the first half as they buried 54.8% (17-of-31) of their shot attempts. Seck tallied 16 points in the first half on 6-of-11 shooting while three other Ravens scored seven apiece.

Sandiford began the second stanza as he powered down low and followed his own missed shot and converted the second chance points to push the Ravens ahead by 18, 45-27. Kevin Cox immediately answered with a lay-in before Fadojutimi sank a trey and McDevitt split a pair of free throws to give the Ravens a 20 point, 49-29 advantage.

DC cut the Raven lead to 13 as Butler made a flashy behind the back pass to Cox waiting in the wing who hit a three to make the score 53-40 with 16 minutes to go. Franklin Pierce kept adding on to their advantage as McDevitt converted an old-fashioned three-point play, van Oostrum buried a spot up wing three-ball and Bradbury hit another three as the Ravens led by 26, 71-45 with 9:18 left to play. The Ravens largest lead was 37 points with 33 ticks left as freshman Trent Dixon (Upper Marlboro, Md.) converted a three-pointer.

The Ravens begin Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday when they travel to reigning NE10 Champion Saint Anselm College for a 7:30 p.m. showdown
