Franklin Pierce Men’s Basketball Announces Four Commitments for 2017-18 Season

RINDGE, N.H. (May 5, 2017) – Franklin Pierce University men's basketball head coach David Chadbourne is proud to announce four signees for the programs 2017-18 season.

The Ravens who finished last season at 15-13, 12-9 Northeast-10 Conference will look to replace the production of four graduating seniors including starters Donte Gittens (Hartford, Conn.) and Matt Banton (Brooklyn, N.Y.).

Sam Van Oostrum is a 6-4 point guard from England. He played at Itchen College under head coach Matt Guymon and was chosen as a 2016-17 Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) All-East First Team selection by averaging 16.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.9 steals per game. Van Oostrum was one of the league's best all-around players as he led the EABL in assists, recorded multiple triple-doubles and earned Player of the Week honors twice.

Devonte McCall (Amherst, Mass.) comes to Rindge after a one year stint as a post-graduate at The Westminster School in Simsbury, Conn. A 6-5 small forward, he played four years at Amherst Regional averaging 21.1 points, 13.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 4.3 blocks per game while posting three triple-doubles in his senior season. In his post-grad year for the Marlets he produced 24 points and 11 boards per duel leading his squad to the NEPSAC Class B Playoffs for the first time in 12 campaigns. He was also named to the Class B All-New England Second Team.

Motu Maker (Manchester, N.H.), a 6-7 power forward, attended Bradford Christian Academy in Haverhill, Mass. the past two years. He scored over 1,000 points in his high school career despite missing most of his final season with an injury.

The fourth and final commitment is Trent Dixon (Marlboro, Md.). Dixon is a 6-0 combo guard who attended Central High School in Capitol Heights, Md. This past season, he averaged 18 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds a game. Dixon collected Fourth Team All-Maryland honors and a Washington Post Honorable Mention selection for his efforts.
