Gittens Earns Third Team Honors, Banton and McDevitt Named Honorable Mention

RINDGE, N.H. (February 23, 2017) – For the second straight season, Franklin Pierce University senior guard Donte Gittens (Hartford, Conn.) has been selected to the 2016-17 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Basketball Third Team it was announced on Thursday morning by the league office.

Teammates Matt Banton (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Mike McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) also earned All-Conference Honors as they were named to the Honorable Mention squad.

Gittens, a one-time NE10 Player of the Week choice and a two-time Weekly Honor Roll pick this season, started and played in all 27 games for the Ravens. The team captain averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, a team-high 5.7 assists which is third best in the NE10, a team-best 1.6 blocks which is good enough for third in the conference while leading the squad with 1.3 steals per game. This season, Gittens connected on 50.2% of his shot attempts which was the highest mark over his four year Raven career the same to be said of his 6.0 boards and 5.7 assists. On November 16, 2016 at Saint Michael's he became the 33rd member of the 1,000 point club with a career-high 27 points on a 10-of-12 (83.3%) shooting performance.

In the program record books, Gittens is 19th all-time in scoring with 1,304 markers, third in career-blocks (179), fifth in assists (475) and 20th in rebounds (546).

Banton, a two-time NE10 Weekly Honor Roll selection, started and played in all 27 games for the Crimson and Grey. The senior guard leads the team in scoring as he's averaging 16.2 points per game on 43.8% shooting and a 40.6% clip from long range. This year, Banton set a single season personal-best in points (437), rebounds per game (3.6) and assists per contest (1.9). In the 102-97 overtime victory at Stonehill on February 4th, Banton dropped a career-high 38 points on 14-of-21 (66.7%) shooting and a 5-of-8 (62.5%) performance from downtown. Eight of the Ravens 13 overtime markers were tallied by Banton.

McDevitt was a one-time NE10 Weekly Honor Roll honoree this season. The junior forward started and played in all 27 games for the Ravens and ranked second on the team in scoring averaging a career-high 14.1 points per game on 49.7% shooting throughout the year. He converted 82.4% from the charity stripe, snagged 6.4 rebounds and swatted 1.1 shots per game which all were personal-bests. McDevitt recorded three double-doubles over the season including a 21 point and carrer-high 11 rebound effort in an 86-74 win against Saint Michael's on February 8th.

The Ravens head out on the road to Albany, N.Y. Sunday for the NE10 Quarterfinals at the College of Saint Rose with tip-off slated for 3:00 p.m.
