BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (December 18, 2016) – Bloomfield College outscored the Franklin Pierce University men's basketball team 50-29 in the second half of play as the Bears ended the Ravens four game winning streak with a 95-76 victory over the Ravens on Sunday afternoon. The setback drops Franklin Pierce to 6-5 and the win moves Bloomfield to 7-5.

The Ravens knocked down 16-of-32 (50.0%) of their field goal attempts in the first half compared to the hosts 16-of-42 (38.1%) showing, but FPU struggled in the second half shooting 11-of-29 (37.9%) as the Bears converted 17-of-31 (54.8%) from the hardwood.

Bloomfield outscored Franklin Pierce in the paint (36-to-26) won the rebound battle (48-34) and second racked up more chance points (15-7).

Junior forward Mike McDevitt (Cumberland, Maine) scored a team-best 13 points on 6-of-11 (54.5%) efficiency from the floor. Senior Matt Banton (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 11 points, a team-high three steals, three boards and two assists. Team captain Donte Gittens (Hartford, Conn.) chipped in seven points, seven assists, five rebounds and two blocks. Off the bench Dustin Cole (Standish, Maine) and Falu Seck (Washington, D.C.) scored nine points respectively.

For the hosts, three starters scored 17 points or more. Rakwan Kelly recorded a double-double with a game-high 19 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Nick Davidson scored 18 markers along with seven boards and Ahmid Williams tallied 17 points, six caroms and four helpers. Safee Abdus-Sabur came off the pine and poured in 16 points.

Over the first five minutes of play the squads swapped buckets until an 8-0 Raven run spurned by two three-balls by Banton and Seck with a Gittens jumper sandwiched in put the guests ahead by eight, 21-13. Bloomfield countered using an 8-2 binge that was capped off by a Robert Lewis lay-in.

Franklin Pierce built the lead back to seven thanks to an Oladoyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) layup before nine straight from the Bears put them up by two, 35-33. The teams swapped points until the end of the frame as the Ravens led by two 47-45 at the midway point.

Cole increased the Ravens lead to five after he knocked down a shot from long-range. Nick Davidson cut the lead to one with a mid-range jumper and on the next Raven possession, Cole connected on another three-ball to put Pierce up four, 62-58.

A 13-4 run by the Bears put the hosts in front by five due to Chiedozie Akawuaku freebies. Following the charity stripe conversions, Asante Sandiford (Boston, Mass.) stopped the bleeding by burying a three-pointer to put his squad within two 71-69.

Over the next few minutes, a 14-2 run by Bloomfield put them up comfortably 85-71 at the 2:22 mark which all but ended the game.

The Ravens look to get back on the winning track at Georgian Court University tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.
